Making a difference in the lives of women in poverty and to our environment can be as easy as your next trip to the grocery store. All you need to do is look for items bearing the Good Deed Foundation logo. The Good Deed Foundation is dedicated to giving people simple, powerful ways to address poverty and climate change.
As noted on the Good Deed Foundation website, more than 15 million women in our country are living in poverty according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and the impact of global warming will increase poverty. And with up to 50 million people at risk of being displaced by droughts and flooding over the next three years, states the United Nations Security Council.
Products co-branded with the Good Deed logo include Cabot cheeses and butters and Good Deed/GreenLights compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs). Two-thirds of Good Deed’s revenues go toward programs build women’s financial assets, job opportunities, skills and entrepreneurship through the organization’s partnership with the Women's Funding Network. The other one-third of revenues goes toward the donation of CFLs to nonprofit organizations through its Good Deed Light program. Good Deed's goal is to distribute one million bulbs to organizations and people in need.
Another way to do good deeds are to recycle your old cell phones by requesting a free, postage paid envelop or print a shipping label by visiting www.GoodDeedFoundation.org/recycle. You can also request a free box to start a cell phone collection in your community.
Other ways to contribute include requesting Good Deed products from your local store and shopping through iGive.com.
